Refereeing Rules and Certification
- International Standards: Referees in Kyrgyzstan adhere to the rules of the International Judo Federation (IJF), including its referee evaluation and classification system.
- Certification: The certification process includes theoretical and practical examinations, as well as participation in international seminars and tournaments.
- Qualification Renewal: Referees are required to regularly renew their qualifications by attending training sessions and passing examinations.
IJF Referee Evaluation System
- Theoretical Block:
- Knowledge of IJF rules (Shido, Hansoku-make, Ippon, Waza-ari).
- Understanding of criteria for evaluating throws, holds, and joint locks.
- Situational tests on non-standard scenarios on the tatami.
- Practical Block:
- Refereeing during training sessions and competitions under the supervision of senior referees.
- Video testing: referees evaluate recorded matches and justify their decisions.
- Rating System:
- Each referee earns points for participation in tournaments and seminars.
- Points determine eligibility for advancement through levels (national → continental → international).
- Qualification Renewal:
- Attendance at IJF seminars every 1–3 years.
- Retaking theoretical and practical examinations.
- Participation in international competitions is mandatory to maintain international status.
